Lesson Description: This activity pairs with the book Wild Blueberries for ME and helps students understand sentence construction and statements that are fact or fiction. In this activity students will construct silly wild blueberry themed sentences, choose a favorite, and illustrate it. They will write their blueberry silly sentence (fiction) and a blueberry fact (non-fiction) from the book Wild Blueberries for ME.

*The book is available online at  www.TeachMEFoodandFarms.org/resources for your computer or smart board if you do not have it in your classroom.

Objectives: 

The student will:

  • Construct 8 silly sentences using the flashcards.
  • Illustrate one silly sentence.
  • Write their silly fiction sentence and a true nonfiction sentence.
  • Present their learning

Materials:

Silly Sentence Cards & Silly Sentence Drawing Handout

Wild Blueberries for ME book

Time: 60 minutes
